The ACLU of Wisconsin invites you to take part in an engaging conversation about the criminal justice system in our state.
During this event, we will cover critical issues like barriers to employment following incarceration, as well as the epidemic of crimeless revocation, the process by which thousands of Wisconsin residents are sent to prison each year despite having not committed a crime.
Beyond the current political debate, Wisconsin’s rising prison population and its racial disparities are issues that have a deep impact on individuals, families, and communities.
Imprisonment is a brutal and costly response to violations or possible violations that traumatizes incarcerated people and hurts families and communities. It should be the last option, not the first. Yet the U.S.
We will be showing the film Blindspotting, followed by a panel discussion on Criminal Justice reform in Wisconsin.
Doors open at 12:30 pm. The film is one hour and 36 minutes and will begin at 1 pm, followed immediately by the panel discussion.
