Civil asset forfeiture undermines civil liberties, violates due process rights, and is discriminatory. It provides law enforcement with the power to take property from someone who has not been convicted of a crime. Under civil asset forfeiture schemes law enforcement agencies are allowed to keep a cut of the assets they seize. As a consequence of racial profiling, nationally, minorities are hardest hit by these schemes.
Come to the Hales Corners Town Hall on Tuesday, June 2 to find out how reform of civil asset forfeiture is attracting support from across the political spectrum in Wisconsin. Hear from representatives of ACLU of Wisconsin, GrandSons of Liberty Wisconsin, and invited legislators on how you can support civil asset forfeiture reform.
