The panel and Q&A discussion on racial profiling issues in the Chippewa Valley is sponsored by the American Civil Liberties Union—Chippewa Valley Chapter, and the Social Responsibility Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation. Panelists include Eau Claire Chief of Police Jerry Matysik on unconscious bias and police training; Caitlin Lee, former president of the Hmong Mutual Assistance Association, on discrimination experienced by Hmong residents; Selika Ducksworth-Lawton, Chancellor’s Fellow for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at UW-Eau Claire, with information on African- Americans’ experience in the Chippewa Valley; and Eric Kasper, Political Science professor at UW-Barron and a municipal judge in Rice Lake, on the problems experienced by Somali and Latino residents in the Barron/Rice Lake area.
