LGBT Film Festival: Marco Castro-Bojorquez’s EL CANTO DEL COLIBRÍ

October 18, 2015 @ 3:00 pm 4:45 pm

30th Annual MILWAUKEE LGBT FILM/VIDEO FESTIVAL presents:

EL CANTO DEL COLIBRÍ
(Marco Castro–Bojorquez, US, in Spanish with English subtitles, 55min., 2015)

The Latino community is too often misrepresented its relationship with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community. In response, EL CANTO DEL COLIBRÍ chronicles a group of Latino fathers dealing with issues of immigration, faith, marriage equality, machismo, and the process of their LGBTQ children's coming out.

The result is a heart-tugging documentary crafted with warmth and spirit by director Marco Castro-Bojoquez. This song of love and acceptance should not be missed.

screening with:

MAMIS: A FAMILY PORTRAIT
(Virginia Fuentes, Cuba, in Spanish with English subtitles, 19 min., 2013)

It’s never been easy to be a mother. For the out-and-proud lesbian women in this Cuban short documentary, the right to become a parent is an obstacle on its own. In the spirit of the feature presentation, MAMIS presents a raw portrait of the obstacles of living in a homophobic country, while recognizing its subjects’ incredible triumphs.
