ACLU of Wisconsin Community Advocate Stacy Harbaugh will lead a discussion on the role of progressive spiritual voices in state legislative debates. While America honors a tradition of the separation between church and state, legislators perennially work to pass laws that spark religious debates. During hearings of introduced legislation, voices of the religious community often conflict with core values of liberty. We will look at examples of legislative proposals over the past year in Wisconsin and discuss how spiritually progressive voices could be advocates for freedom and equality.
