Community Forum: “Restorative Circles: Causes and Solutions to Racism and Violence in Milwaukee”

The ACLU of Wisconsin Foundation invites our supporters and members to the Milwaukee-area 2011 Youth Social Justice Forum and a special intergenerational discussion, “Restorative Circles: Causes and Solutions to Racism and Violence in Milwaukee.” An expected two hundred community members and student participants in the forum will hear history and context from Professor Jasmine Alinder who coordinates the March on Milwaukee (1967) Civil Rights History Project. LaShawndra Vernon and Emilio De Torre will collaborate with other restorative justice facilitators to lead a discussion about current issues with racism in the city. The Youth Social Justice Forum is presented in partnership with the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, ACLU Student Alliance at UW-Milwaukee, Urban Underground, TRUE Skool, 88.9 Radio Milwaukee, City of Milwaukee Election Commission, Milwaukee Public Theatre, Life After Hate, MICAH, and the YWCA of Milwaukee. Find the brochure for the event on our website.
