Effective 12-10-09
1. To help you
We collect data from web site visitors to assist them in navigating our site; to make a site visit more productive. The data collected does not identify individuals.
2. To help us
We collect data from web site visitors to assist us in managing our site. For example, a page may have a visitor counter so we know what pages our visitors are interested in, and we are interested in the sequence of our pages visited so we can gauge the effectiveness of our own links.
3. To fulfill your explicit request
We collect data for stated purposes on our site that you give us permission to collect. For example, if you sign up for Action Alerts or register for an event, in so doing you give us your email address, and then we have your email address for the purpose of sending you requested Action Alerts or confirmation of your event registration.
4. Sharing
We DO share data collected with the national ACLU and adhere to their policy regarding sharing data with third parties. National ACLU does rent or sell data, but provides an opportunity for individuals to opt out. See the National ACLU policy here. National ACLU may occasionally update this policy, but if they make material changes, will post a notice on their home page that the Privacy Statement has been modified and provide a link to the revised Privacy Statement.
