Fair Maps for Wisconsin

The right to vote is one of the most important civil liberties. We believe voting should be easy for every Wisconsinite and that each vote should count the same.

Our state is home to the most extreme partisan gerrymander in the country after the Wisconsin Supreme Court approved unfair voting maps in 2022. On August 2, 2023, Law Forward and partners filed a legal challenge to these maps.

In partnership with the Wisconsin Fair Maps Coalition, we held statewide rallies on November 21, 2023 while the Wisconsin Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the lawsuit.

On December 22, 2023, the Wisconsin Supreme Court issued a major ruling ordering Wisconsin's hyperpartisan legislative maps to be redrawn. Governor Evers signed new maps into law on Feburary 19, 2024 which will likely be in place for the August 2024 primary and November 2024 general election.

Wisconsin's voting maps determine the composition of districts that elect our public officials. Every Wisconsin voter has a vital stake in ending gerrymandering and demanding that our voting maps fairly represent our communities.
